At Resin Wize, we specialise in designing driveways that exceed the expectations of our Isle of Wight customers. Available in a wide range of colours and finishes, our driveways are beneficial for a number of reasons, including:
The beauty of resin is that it can be applied over an existing surface (with the exception of block paving and concrete slabs). We use UV-stabilised resin, so your driveway won’t fade or change colour as it ages. The final product is also strong enough to withstand up to 30-tonnes of weight, making it suitable for supporting multiple vehicles.

The beauty of resin surfacing is that it can be laid straight over an existing surface such as concrete or tarmac. The only real requirement is that the current surface be stable enough to support the resin surface on top. If the foundations are found to be too badly worn, the existing surface would need to be stripped away and a new base prepared. We usually advise a new base as this ensures a longer service life.
Yes. Resin surfacing should never be laid on top of concrete slabs, block or crazy paving. The reason for this is that these aren’t uniform surfaces, rather, they consist of individual components which can potentially shift. Any such movements could cause the resin to crack compromising your driveway.
No. The resin we use is UV-stable, so it won’t fade or change colour even in direct sunlight. A resin driveway will sport the same eye-catching colours for the entire duration of its life cycle.
For paths and patios, a softer aggregate is often used which isn’t suitable. But, for driveways, a tougher, more hard-wearing aggregate is used which can withstand up to 30 tonnes of weight. This well exceeds the maximum weight limit of even the heaviest car. In short, resin surfaces can more than comfortably support one or multiple vehicles.
When you choose resin bound driveways, Southampton clients can depend on us to overlay your existing surface or completely construct a new one. Either way, our dedicated in-house groundwork and landscaping teams are able to carry out your project from start to finish.
For a complete construction, we initially excavate the area to a depth of 250mm, then roll the area with a machine to compact existing substrata. Next, Type 1 stone (MOT) is laid to 150-200mm thickness before being rolled and compacted again. After this, 50-100mm of open faced hot rolled tarmac/C35 concrete is laid and rolled before the final layers are added.
For an existing surface overlay, we initially prepare the existing surface using a high-pressure jet washer system and primer. This takes out any moisture and provides a tacky surface. Overlays typically take 1-2 days with minimal disruption to your property or lifestyle.
Once your chosen resin stone has been laid on either a new surface or overlaid on an existing one, we rake and level to an 18-20mm thickness. Sometimes the surface is uneven and not level, so we level it out using the resin stone by mass filling dips or sunken areas, bringing it to an even level. We complete your installation with a trowelled finish to seal and close the rein stone, creating a long lasting, smooth, non-slip finish. Lastly, we then hi-pressure water jet the site to leave your resin bound driveways in Southampton clean and tidy.
Patios are such a great place to hang out. They can be used all year long and provide a means for you to enjoy your garden without traipsing across the lawn. Whether you desire a spot to relax in the sun or somewhere to entertain friends and family, a patio won’t disappoint – especially if it has been built by us. Our patios are comparable to our driveways when it comes to the benefits, including the wealth of colours and finishes that are available.
